interesting information about discussing Buddhism in Sera Monastery

Lhasa tour is a necessary part of Tibet tours and I would recommend Sera Monastery to your Lhasa tour. Sera monastery is most famous for its Buddhism-discussing in the afternoon every day which aims to help better understand the Buddhism Scriptures. When Lamas discuss Buddhism, they adopt the type of questioning and replying. One starts with his questioning with the word “Di” which symbolizes to open the door of wisdom, then, he raises his right hand high and claps it with his left hand making a loud voice. And the clapping of the two palms has three meanings: first, one palm can not make a voice symbolizing that everything in the world is produced through connection and combination; second, the voice made by clapping symbolizing quick change and things can disappear in seconds; third, the loud voice made by clapping can evoke the wisdom and mercy deeply in your heart and drive away the evilness in you. In one word, every move during discussing Buddhism has its meaning and rules. Do you want to view the Buddhism-discussing in Sera Monastery? Now, apply for a Tibet travel permit, book a Tibet train ticket, maybe buy some Lhasa travel guide or Tibet travel guide and start your travel to Lhasa.

Art of Tibetan Furniture

Travel in Tibet, you may have a chance to live in a Tibet style hotel. Then you will found there are many beautiful furniture in your room. Almost all Tibet tours could have this chance.
Tibetan-style furniture, usually featuring metal decorations, falls into three major categories: chests, cabinets, and tables.
Tibetans are accustomed to sitting on the ground, so benches or chairs are rarely seen in their homes.
Tibetan chests, dating back to the 17th or 18th century, were used to take food and clothes when people travel to make pilgrimage. But they have been gradually replaced by Tibetan cabinets for the later is more utilitarian in use. The key feature of Tibetan chests is its painting arts. Colored paintings are either directly drawn on the surface, or on a piece of flax covering the chest surface. In some cases, putty is used to cover the flax so that the oil paints on it are not easily detached.
If you travel to Tibet, you will love this colorful furniture during your tibet tour, after a Qinghai Tibet Railway journey you can enjoy a real Tibet world.

tea manners in Tibet

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. You are recommended to know certain table manners when being a guest in a Tibetan family if you can arrange yourself a family visit during your Tibet tours. In this article I’d like to tell you something about the tea manners in Tibet. Generally, the Tibetans drink the butter tea and if you are a guest in a Tibetan family, the hostess will take out her treasured and luminous looking china bowl and put it before you; then, she shall hold tea pot up and shake slightly for several times (bottom of the teapot is below a table). After the butter tea is poured into the tea bowl, it would be carried with both hands presenting to you, at the same time the hostess would bow to you. You are not supposed to drink it at once when you have just got it from the hostess. You should blow the floating oil slowly, and take several sips till half of it left in the bowl. Put the bowl onto the table. The hostess is going to fill it up and you can’t take it immediately but are supposed to sip it slowly and keep taking with her. After drinking each time, bowl is to be filled up soon so as to keep it full. Generally, you need to drink three bowls. When drinking, do not make any noise. Not even drink it up, otherwise, it will be regarded as ill breeding. You are supposed to leave a little tea in the bowl which represents that there shall always be enough tea and wealth. Now, do you want to have some tea in a Tibetan family? You may not be sure as how to travel to tibet, listen to me, you can have a Tibet travel by air or by taking the train to tibet, in any way, it is feasible and convenient. Lhasa is the only way which must be passed

Travel to tibet, Lhasa is the only way which must be passed. It is rightly one of the most featured and dreamt-about cities in the world. This is not only because of its high altitude at 3,650 meters (11,975 feet) which means remoteness and limited accessibility, but also because of its over 1,000 years' cultural and spiritual history which leaves an impressive heritage that has helped to create the romantic and mysterious Tibetan religion. And it is the terminal station of Qinghai Tibet Railway.
As the beautiful capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), Lhasa is situated in the South Central part of the region, on the North bank of the Kyichu River (Lhasa River) in a mountain-fringed valley. the great woman, Princess Wencheng

Many years ago, there was such a woman who, in order to maintain the peace of her own country and to be together with her lover, went to Tibet to spend her life when she was only 15, and this woman is the ancient Chinese Princess, Princess Wencheng. At that time, it was pretty difficult for a Tibet travel. You cannot imagine how hard the journey was without highways, flights or the Tibet railway. After arriving in Tibet, Wencheng was warmly welcomed by the Tibetan people and was loved by the great Tibetan king, Songtsen Gampo. Wencheng was a smart, knowledgeable and hardworking woman who knows advanced knowledge about breeding crops. And she taught the Tibetan people how to knit, breed crops and many other things. The Tibetans love the princess all the time and they thank her for bringing so much to Tibet to make their life be better. The famous Potala Palace was originally built for Princess Wencheng to welcome her. Along your tours to Tibet, you may hear many stories about the princess and the Tibetan king, as well as those between the Tibetan people and her. Now, there are highways, flights and Rail to Tibet and you can go to travel in Tibet with only a Tibet travel permit. Things are much easier now. What I can say about Wencheng is that she did do well and was surely a great woman.

Tibet Permit Issues

Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) Permits are necessary for entry to Lhasa or any other part of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, and are obtained through tour operators as part of arrangements for travel; A T.T.B. permit does not obviate the need for an Aliens' Travel Permit for any closed areas that may be visited. But you can get them easily from our Lhasa office.Important Issues about Tibet travel Permit
1. All kinds of people can get Tibet permit through a travel agency except diplomats, journalists, and government officials who should travel to Tibet under the arrangement by the Foreign Affairs Office of Tibet Government.
2. After having a permit, a travel agency could buy you the air tickets, and you can pass the check-in at the airport and the check point reroute with the permit.
3. You are not allowed to bring with the TTB permit and travel to anywhere outside of Lhasa city you want because except Lhasa you need another permit named as "Aliens' Permit". And all places should be companied by Tibet travel guide.
4. Generally it needs three days to get the Tibet visa if you could supply the full necessary documents.
Aliens' Travel Permits (PSB's)
Permits to visit places that are not declared open are known as Aliens' Travel Permits, or PSB's. They are issued by the police (Public Security Bureau, "PSB"). A single permit is normally issued to all the people who are traveling together, the permit naming just one of them and stating how many others are accompanying him; the passports, or at least photocopies of passports and visas, of all persons traveling must be presented in order to obtain a permit.

the features of Tibetan costumes

During your Tibet tours, you’ll certainly meet lots of Tibetans wearing their traditional costumes. Usually, the Tibetan costumes are very colorful. The Tibetan robe is Tibetans' main traditional clothes. It is loose-fitting, with long sleeves and a wider-than-usual waist, and its front is opened from the right side. The Tibetan robe is made from leather among herdsmen, and woolen fabrics among farmers. The basic characteristics of Tibetan robes are: wide fronts with wide waists and buttoned on the right side; wide, long sleeves (more than 30 centimeters longer than the arm, and the lower hem stretches out about 10 centimeters over the instep, mostly edged with red or black strips or leopard skin as a form of decoration); the collar, edge of the front, cuff and the lower hem of the gown are mostly edged with fine and soft fur, pulu or colorful cloth. As for the wearing of the Tibetan costumes, the Tibetans usually wear shirts inside and wear the Tibetan robes outside. Sometimes, they may bare their right arm or both arms for the convenience of working or just because of the temperature. The Tibetan costumes are quite different from ours and I’m really curious about how we shall look like if we dress in Tibetan costumes. Well, I’m sure if you travel in Tibet, during your Lhasa tour, you will be able to dress in Tibetan costumes. It must be fun.
